LANDIKOTAL: Police, during a snap check, recovered four kilograms of crystal meth (ice) on the Landikotal bypass road and arrested the peddler, officials said on Friday.
Additional SHO Azmat Wali told this scribe that under the supervision of SHO Ishrat Khan Shinwari, they established a snap checking point at the Landikotal bypass Road. He said police intercepted a suspicious car bearing registration number(2648-LEF) coming from the Torkham side was flagged. He said they recovered four kilograms of Ice concealed under the driver’s seat. The accused, identified as Ubaidullah son of Azmat Khan, a resident of Mohmand district, was arrested on the spot and shifted to Landikotal police station where a case was registered.
District Police Officer Khyber Rai Mazhar Iqbal said drug dealers were a poison for society and police would continue their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics until the menace is eliminated. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to curb the drug trade.
Additional SHO Azmat Wali said several such operations had earlier been carried out in Landikotal, where narcotics, including hashish and heroin, were seized and smugglers arrested. Officials added that due to its proximity to the border, Landikotal was often used as a transit route for drug smuggling.
