LANDIKOTAL: A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred when militants opened sniper fire at a security post in Charbagh border area of Landikotal tehsil in district Khyber, officials said on Friday.
They said the incident took place at Charbagh Shinkandao hill post in the command area of 146 Wing of Frontier Corps. Officials said terrorists linked with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) targeted the security personnel with a sniper gun.
As a result, FC Sepoy Aziz Chitrali sustained fatal injuries and embraced martyrdom on the spot.
Security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding areas soon after the incident.
It may be added here that it was a second terrorist attack carried out in the district of Khyber in one day. Earlier, a suicide attack killed a soldier in the Tirah valley and injured 13 others.
