PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has highlighted the involvement of external forces in exacerbating the longstanding turmoil in Kurram district. In a recent statement, CM Gandapur emphasized that the issues in Kurram extend beyond sectarian divides, attributing the continuation of conflict to foreign entities supplying arms and ammunition.

“These external forces aim to destabilize not just Kurram but the entire nation,” stated CM Gandapur defiantly. “However, we are resolute in our commitment to quell terrorism and ensure peace.”

The government has initiated comprehensive security measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras worth two billion rupees across Kurram. CM Gandapur underscored that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to secure the district and its critical infrastructure.

Acknowledging historical sectarian tensions and underlying land disputes in Kurram, CM Gandapur affirmed the government’s proactive stance in addressing these multifaceted challenges. Recent incidents, such as the attack on a relief convoy in Bagan Ochat, underscore the volatile security situation. Prompt police response prevented casualties, underscoring ongoing efforts to maintain order amidst unrest.

Security forces have recently regained control of Bagan Bazaar, launching subsequent operations to apprehend those responsible for recent attacks. The government’s swift actions reflect its determination to restore stability and safeguard communities in Kurram.

As external influences continue to pose threats, CM Gandapur’s remarks signal a concerted effort to confront these challenges head-on, reaffirming the government’s resolve to protect public safety and territorial integrity.
