LANDIKOTAL: Former Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Shafiq Sher Afridi on Monday said that despite being part of the opposition in the provincial assembly, he allocated development funds worth Rs,200 million for Landikotal.
Accompanied by tehsil Landikotal chairman Shah Khalid Shinwari, Malik Nisar Afridi, Sajid Ali Afridi, and others, addressed a significant press conference today at the District Press Club in Landikotal.
Shafiq Sher stated that their duty was to keep the public informed about the facts.
He explained that 100 million rupees were spent on energy projects. Additionally, he criticized the bureaucracy and elected representatives for taking a 3% commission on development funds, calling it a blatant injustice. He asserted that he would continue working for the region’s progress and prosperity without compromising on public rights.
He further disclosed that a road construction project in Landi Kotal, supported by the World Bank, was underway. He claimed that during his tenure, the project’s survey was completed and its approval was secured. According to him, the estimated cost per kilometer of the road is around 80 million rupees, and the project’s approval was the result of his dedicated efforts.
Shafiq Sher Afridi highlighted several development projects initiated during his tenure, emphasizing his commitment to their completion. Criticizing the current provincial government, he accused it of failing to launch any public welfare projects.He challenged the government to name a single development initiative it had undertaken for the benefit of the people.
He stressed that while he was not against development projects, he would not tolerate any violation of public rights. Expressing disappointment, Shafiq Sher lamented that the current government had canceled previously approved educational institution projects, which he described as a regrettable decision.
In conclusion, he demanded the completion of all development projects as per the original PC-1 and called for an investigation into any misappropriation of development funds.
