Dera Ismail Khan: At least five people were killed and several others injured in a suicide bombing at the residence of Peace Committee chief Noor Alam Mehsud in Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday, police and rescue officials said.
According to initial reports, the blast occurred during a wedding ceremony at Noor Alam Mehsud’s house near Qureshi Mor, triggering panic in the surrounding area.
Police sources said that upon receiving information about the explosion, Rescue 1122 dispatched seven ambulances, along with fire and disaster response vehicles, to the scene. Rescue teams shifted five bodies and at least ten injured persons to nearby hospitals. The rescue operation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
Initial information confirmed that those killed included Commander Jagri Mehsud, a supporter of the Peace Committee, and lawyer Majeed Lagri, while several others sustained injuries. Police, rescue personnel, and bomb disposal squad teams reached the site soon after the incident.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. The injured are receiving emergency medical treatment, while investigations are underway to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible. An emergency has been declared at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
