Custom Enforcement Chief Visits Torkham

TORKHAM: Newly posted custom collector Enforcement Peshawar visited Torkham border on Tuesday and inspected various customs sections, officials said.

Torkham customs official Wajid Khan told Fata News that customs collector enforcement Khuwaja Naeem inspected the Torkham customs house and checked declarations disk, passengers’ Hall, arrival and departure scanners, import gate-in and gate out, export in and out and other checking points. He said the official instructed the customs staff that providing facilities for traders and transporters was the motto of Pakistan customs to facilitate traders. He said every customs employee must work hard to help improve bilateral business with Afghanistan and central Asian countries.

Additional collector Zakir Muhammad, deputy collector Ali Hassan Raza and other offices were also accompanied by the DC collector customs Peshawar during the Torkham visit.

Talking to the media, collector enforcement said they have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against all kinds of smuggling especially currency smuggling, narcotics and other contraband.

He said that they had prepared a plan against smugglers who would soon be put behind bars. He directed the officials concerned to immediately provide all possible facilities to passengers who cross the border from and to Afghanistan.

He also stressed the provision of physical and moral assistance to patients, elderly passengers, children and women so that they could cross the border without delay and hindrance.
The official also directed the customs officials to ensure an expedited truck documentation process to enhance trade with Afghanistan.
