LANDIKOTAL: District Police Officer(DPO) Salim Abbas Kulachi made public further names and pictures of 64 narcotics smugglers and dealers including four police department employees who were allegedly involved in narcotics dealing and facilitating smugglers in district Khyber.
The pictures, names, and brief details of the accused persons were also shared on social media on Tuesday.
Talking to Fata Voice News Agency DPO Khyber Salim Abbas Kulachi said that most of the smugglers and their facilitators have been arrested. He said after a thorough investigation they also found four police department employees involved in narcotics dealing and facilitating smugglers. He said they were also arrested.
He said Constable Ali Abad, constable Fayaz, constable Raj Wali and Constable Jamshid were arrested after being proven guilty of narcotics smuggling and facilitating smugglers. He said they were terminated from services. He said many police were also terminated from their services last month due to their involvement in illegal activities.
Kulachi said they were chasing the rest of the wanted persons and soon they would be behind bars. He said the pictures and data of 34 more persons from Jamrud tehsil and 30 from Ali Masjid locality were shared with different police stations and shared with police stations and uploaded it on social media so that they could arrest the culprits. He said several wanted and arrested narcotics dealers and smugglers were Afghan nationals residing in Shakas and the rest of Jamrud areas. He said the names and pictures of other 60 persons had been already displayed in various police stations and other public places.
DPO said they have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and other social evils that were not only illegal but Islam also forbidden as a religion. He said according to police findings the money collected from narcotics dealing was being used in terrorism in Pakistan. He said on the directives of Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Akhtar Hayat Khan they have constituted teams specifically working to eliminate all social evils, especially drug dealers and traffickers.
He said a special talks force had been constituted working along with other government departments to maintain peace and promote healthy activities.
Meanwhile, Pakistan customs and Frontier Corp(North) foiled two separate bids in Tirah valley and arrested hashish and ice worth Rs,195 million on Tuesday Monday night. Eight smugglers were arrested who brought the seized drugs from Afghanistan.
