TORKHAM: The Taliban government has issued a directive to close down beauty salons in Afghanistan, imposing further limitations on women and implementing measures to restrict their access to public spaces.
According to a notice from the Ministry for the Prevention of Vice and Propagation of Virtue, Mohammad Sadiq Akif, the spokesperson, announced that beauty parlours for women must be closed within a month’s time.
The enforcement of this directive will result in the closure of numerous businesses operated by women, leading to a significant number of job losses and leaving many women unemployed.
Since regaining control, the Taliban has placed numerous limitations on women. Girls were forbidden from entering high schools and universities, and they were also forbidden from working, going out in public, and visiting gyms and parks.
