LANDIKOTAL: On the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education directorate, Khyber education staff arranged an awareness walk in Jamrud on Saturday.
A large number of students, parents, teachers, elders and education office officials participated in the awareness walk. They walked from Hashimabad high school and gathered at the Takhtabaig check post.
The participants were holding banners inscribed with slogans of enroll out-of-school children and education is the constitutional right of every child.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers including the principal of government High school Hashimabad Abdur Rehman Afridi, Wajid Khan Afridi and others said that proper education was a basic right of every child. They said parents should enroll their children in the nearest school.
Abdur Rehman said primary education was compulsory for both boys and girls and parents were bound to provide moral and social support to their children to get a proper education.
Abdur Rehman Afridi said when they ignore admitting a child to school he could adopt the wrong path and could negatively affect the whole society.
“Education department employees are not only responsible to work for education promotion but civil society especially elders and parents must come forward to work on the importance of education jointly”, said Abdur Rehman.
Headteacher Wajid Afridi said the government not only hired qualified staff but all the state schools were equipped with the best possible education facilities so that children could be motivated to attend classes wholeheartedly.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government granted stipends to the children of low-income families enrolled in the government schools to continue their schooling. He urged teachers to work honestly and impart their due role to increase the education ratio in district Khyber.
