Residents sought award for rescuing child

LANDIKOTAL: Residents of Zargaran village have demanded of the local authorities to award a commendation certificate to Faisal Khan who had rescued a five–year–an old child from drowning in a water pond near Karnai locality in the vicinity of the Landikotal headquarters hospital the other day.

They have also urged the concerned officials to conduct a survey regarding such stagnant water ponds and open manholes in the area so that they could be covered to avoid such incidents in the future.

According to the residents, last Sunday, a few children were playing outside their homes when five-year-old Irfan suddenly fell into the 10 -feet deep water pond and fortunately Faisal Khan a local resident happened to pass that way and on the cries of the children standing nearby dived into the water pond and rescued Irfan son of Dost Mohammad from sure death.

“Faisal Khan who also runs his own dispensary in Landikotal bazaar had risked his own life and also lost a mobile set worth Rs 25, 000 and Rs 3,000 cash during the rescue attempt but was overjoyed that he saved a small child who was later discharged after first aid treatment from Landikotal hospital, he should be compensated and also awarded on such a brave attempt,” residents demanded.

Local elder Rahim Jan also suggested that a campaign for first aid should be run at all government and private schools along with creating awareness on covering such water ponds and open manholes so that the safety of the innocent children and commoners could be ensured.
