KHYBER: The Teachers’ Organization of Pakistan(TOP) Khyber chapter organized a distribution programme at Government Higher Secondary School Pindi Lalma in Malagori, where needy students, including orphans, were provided cash and other necessary items on Friday.
The distribution ceremony was attended by central president Prof Dr Altaf Hussain Langrial as the chief guest, along with provincial secretary Dr Muhammad Usman, central finance secretary Misbah-ul-Islam, Khyber district president Sharifullah Afridi, other district office-bearers, teachers, local elders and students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Altaf Hussain Langrial said education, along with the training and character-building of teachers and students, was part of the organization’s mission.
Dr Muhammad Usman said the organization’s work carried the message that people should become givers, spread goodness and benefit others.
Sharifullah Afridi urged students to focus not only on education but also on good manners, character-building and personal development. He also invited teachers to join the organization, describing it as an organization committed to both service and training.
With support from the Teachers’ Organization of Pakistan, Diya Pakistan and the local Zakat committee, cash assistance worth around Rs8 million, along with free school bags and clothes, was distributed among deserving, needy and orphan students.
Speakers at the event said the aim of the initiative was to encourage the students and help meet their educational needs.
