KHYBER: Four Frontier Corps soldiers were martyred and two others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Saturday, official sources said.

The incident occurred when security forces were transporting rations to a convoy. According to officials, terrorists had planted the IED in the Karrapa area of Bar Qambarkhel. As the vehicle carrying the supplies reached the site, the explosive detonated with a big bang, claiming the lives of four soldiers on the spot.
The soldiers who were martyred in the blast have been identified as Sepoys Fida Nawaz, Lal Madeen, Wajid and Aamir Khan. Subedar Yarmat Khan and Irshad sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported as stable.
Security forces and local police arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to track down the perpetrators. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made so far, and an investigation is underway.

No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but officials suspect involvement of insurgent elements operating in the tribal district. The blast marks the latest in a series of attacks targeting security personnel in the Khyber region, which has been witnessing persistent militant activity in recent months.
Local authorities and military officials condemned the attack and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security in the area. Residents in Bara expressed shock and fear following the incident, urging security forces to intensify operations to curb militant threats.
