LANDIKOTAL: A Pakistani security forces soldier was killed and another sustained injuries when Afghan forces escalated firing on a Pakistani post in the Sasobi area of Bazaar Zakhakhel in Landikotal on Wednesday

Official sources said that Afghan forces initiated unprovoked firing on Pakistan’s security forces posts. He said Pakistani troops responded with heavy gunfire, targeting the Afghan post and reportedly destroying it.
On the condition of anonymity, a resident told this scribe that more than two hours of heavy cross-firing was continued.
The official said Afghan forces targeted Sasobi base camp, Sasobi picket-two and three and Nakai-one posts in Bazaar Zakhakhel.

Naik Zahoor Marwat embraced Shahadat while Lance Naik Tahir was wounded in the unprovoked firing.

Tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have remained high, with frequent skirmishes reported in recent months. Security officials stated that necessary measures are being taken to ensure border security and prevent further escalations.
