Journalist demands protection for his family

LANDIKOTAL: Demanding protection for his family, senior journalist and Geo News Khyber district correspondent Qazi Fazlullah on Monday said that police arrested two Afghan nationals in connection with a violent attack on the sons of senior journalist and president of the Tribal Union of Journalists.

Senior Journalist and Tribal Union of Journalists(TUJ) central president Qazi Fazlullah told the media that they had registered an FIR after the incident. He said Peshawar police claimed to have arrested two suspects and transferred them to the central jail in Peshawar. He said assistant sub-inspector of police Shakeel Khan had formed a team to look into the incident.

Qazi Fazlullah said his two sons including 21-year-old Osama Qazi and 20-year-old Yasir Hamid and his 20-year-old nephew Abid Khan were brutally attacked with knives near their residence in Asad Town on October 8. in Peshawar.

He said the attack occurred while the three were on their way to a local market for shopping. According to police reports, the assailants had been lying in wait, armed with knives and daggers.

The local police, after receiving the report, have registered a case against the four attackers. Authorities have confirmed that the arrested suspects, identified as Syeda Gul and Ali Muhammad, had rented accommodation near Asad Town.

Following the attack, all three victims were initially in critical condition but are now reported to be out of danger, according to medical staff at Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Qazi Fazlullah said he was receiving continuous threatening messages from an individual claiming to be commander Abu Talha of the banned terrorist organization Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, using a number based in Afghanistan. He said these messages allegedly pressured him to reconcile with the attackers. Fazlullah expressed concerns for his and his family’s safety and has called for immediate investigation and protection from police authorities.
