LANDIKOTAL: District Police Officer(DPO) Salim Abbas Kalachi on Thursday dismissed six police officers allegedly involved in narcotics dealing and embezzlement, officials said.

A senior official on the condition of anonymity told Fata Voice News Agency that district police officer Salim Abbas Kalachi had initiated an official inquiry against six Khyber police department employees. He said the inquiry committee had found them guilty and suggested their dismissals. He said those dismissed were the former Jamrud police station officer inspector Shamshad Afridi, Head constable Akhtar Hussain Afridi, additional SHO Khalid Khan, Aziz Khan, Islam Shah and Shahzeb Khan.
The official said that the DPO had suspended the six police officers some four months ago and initiated an inquiry against them. He said the dismissed police officers were found involved in narcotics dealing and embezzlement in the seized narcotics.

According to the inquiry report the dismissed police were in contact with drug dealers and stole Ice drugs, heroin, hashish and other drugs from the official custody.

Quoting the DPO Khyber, the official said that they would not tolerate black sheep in the police department. He said they were also working on the profiling of other suspected police department employees and soon they would reach a conclusion. He said strict action would be taken against them shortly if found guilty. He said the dismissed police employees were the narcotics dealers’ handlers who had earned a bad name for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

DPO said that they would continue accountability within the police department so that they could build trust in society.
