LANDIKOTAL: Another pamphlet warning local elders and residents to follow the Taliban agenda and support their cause was seen pasted on the walls of shops in Khyber Sultankhel markets in Landikotal, police said on Friday.

The pamphlet asked residents to avoid sending their children to join the police and other forces and was written in Pashtu.

A police officer on the condition of anonymity said that pamphlets were pasted on the walls in Khyber Sultankhel markets in Pashtu language. However, he said they were investigating its authentication.

This correspondent contacted district police officer Khyber Salim Abbas Kulachi he said it seemed to be a genuine pamphlet issued by terrorists to threaten residents not to raise their voices against their activities. He said they were interrogating the watchmen of those markets where the threatening pamphlets were pasted on the walls to reach the hands behind them.

The pamphlet also warned about illegal and immoral activities in the markets but did not mention what they call illegal and immoral.

It may be recalled that last week former Landikotal press club president Khalil Jibran Afridi was gunned down near his home in Landikotal while his friend Sajjad Advocate sustained bullet injuries.

Later on the same day, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan(TTP) issued two warning pamphlets in which they also claimed responsibility for Khalil Jibran’s murder. TTP had also warned other Khyber Journalists that they would not spare five more journalists and would soon attack police stations.

After the threatening letter a wave of fear spread in Landikotal among residents particularly journalists who were exposed to the threat. Residents in the ongoing sit-in camp reiterated their demand for peace and security for all citizens.
