PESHAWAR: Ten outstanding medical research students selected from across Pakistan graduated as the third batch of the Precision Medicine Lab’s(PML) highly competitive 8-week summer elective programme.
The certificate distribution ceremony was held under the joint auspices of Rehman Medical Institute and CECOS University, aimed at nurturing emerging scientific talent in biomedicine and related fields.
The graduation ceremony was also attended by a distinguished audience including Prof Dr. Sher Muhammad Khan, Consultant Oncologist, Dr. Taza Gul, Director of Science and Technology, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Amjad Arbab, senior advisor at the World Bank, among other notable guests.
Talking on the occasion, the principal of Rehman Medical College, Prof Dr Mukhtiar Zaman said that the Precision Medicine Lab has become a beacon of advanced biomedical research, focusing on critical projects including the country’s precision medicine pilot for cancer treatment. He said each summer, the lab welcomes some of Pakistan’s brightest medical undergraduates to engage in original research, contributing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
The graduates of the programme included were included of Mahnoor Sheikh of Pakistan International Medical College in Peshawar, Binyameen Raza Qureshi from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Abdal Gohar Qureshi, from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Gul-e-Lala Nauman from Rehman Medical College in Peshawar, Shayan Ahmad from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Zara Khan of Khyber Girls Medical College in Peshawar, Muskan Hayat from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar,
Malaika Khan from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Quratulain from Rehman Medical College, Peshawar and Talha Mufeed from Saidu Medical College in Swat.
Dr. Faisal Khan emphasized the need for a culture of inquiry and academic rigour to fully unlock the potential of young researchers.
He said the Precision Medicine Lab’s role was promoting a vibrant scientific community and paving the way for future advancements in precision medicine. He said the summer elective programme continues to be a key initiative in developing the next generation of scientific leaders in Pakistan.
In the end, all the graduates were awarded with certificates.
