SADDA: Security forces, with assistance from police and civil administration have launched a major operation in Lower Kurram after a high-level Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government meeting authorized action against miscreants.
According to sources, authorities imposed a curfew and began search operations after an aid convoy attack led to multiple abductions and deaths. Security forces, backed by armoured vehicles, have taken positions in Bagan, dismantling bunkers and targeting identified miscreants. Residents have been advised to stay indoors, and orders to “shoot on sight” were issued for any miscreants spotted.
The operation follows a fragile peace deal signed in January, which required locals to disarm. Recent attacks, including the ambush of a former deputy commissioner’s convoy and the targeting of relief supplies, prompted the provincial government to act decisively.
Emergency supplies, including medicines, tents, and blankets, have been airlifted to affected areas, with helicopter services ensuring evacuation and relief. Authorities emphasize their commitment to restoring peace and call for public cooperation in identifying infiltrators.
