LANDIKOTAL: Unknown militants attacked the Ziyaray police checkpost in Landikotal in the wee hours of Wednesday night with machine guns and rocket launchers; however, no casualties happened, police said on Thursday.
Police said that as terrorists launched the attack, they retaliated with heavy guns. Frontier corps personnel deployed at the nearby hilltop also backed the police party and repulsed the attack.
The boundary wall and rooms of the checkpost were partially damaged in the attack; however, no casualties were reported.
Additionally, official sources confirmed that a shell also landed near the under-construction Rescue 1122 center adjacent to the Hamza Baba shrine.
It may be mentioned here that the growing militancy once again put citizens’ lives in danger, where everyone in Landikotal is in deep fear and anxiety,
