Pakistani doctor screening coronavirus patients pass away

PESHAWAR: 26-year-old doctor, who had reportedly contracted coronavirus while screening pilgrims coming from Iraq and Iran, has passed away in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) on Sunday, the GB government said in a statement.

A young doctor, his name Dr, Usama Riaz who had reportedly contracted coronavirus while screening pilgrims coming from Iran and Iraq, has passed away in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Nearly 2,040 pilgrims have returned to GB from Iran and Iraq via the quarantine facility at Taftan.
The Information Department of G-B has confirmed the death, saying Dr, Usama Riaz rendered martyrdom while battling against the novel coronavirus.
“The martyred, Dr, Usama, will be awarded a hero award,” the Gilgit Baltistan information department added in the statement.
