LANDIKOTAL: An 8-year-old girl has died after falling into a well in the Mirdadkhel area of Landikotal tehsil of Khyber tribal region, sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources in Landikotal hospital, Marwa daughter of Sarfaraz resident of Shaikhmal Khel has died when falling into a well in Mirdad Khel area of tehsil Landikotal.
He said that the minor girl was fetching water from a nearby open well in the Mirdad Khel area. The incident happened when her foot slipped and she fell into the deep well, the sources stated.
Soon after the incident the locals rushed to the scene and one of them went into the well to salvage the situation but could not rescue the toddler due to the depth of the well, the sources added.
The body of the ill-fated girl retrieved from the well after the hectic efforts of the rescuers.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the slain girl had gone to her maternal grandfather’s homes in the Mirdadkhel area of Landikotal and the incident took place there.
