Kuki Khel Tribe Ends 75-Day Sit-In After Talks with KP Chief Minister

JAMRUD: The Kuki Khel Afridi tribe from Khyber district ended their 75-day-long sit-in at Bab-e-Khyber after fruitful negotiations with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur. The sit-in was staged to demand compensation for losses incurred during military operations, the safe return of displaced families, and enhanced security in the region.

According to sources, After multiple rounds of talks, an important jirga (tribal council) was held between Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and the Kuki Khel elders.
The provincial government agreed to address the tribe’s key concerns, including the release of compensation funds, the return of displaced families and development initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Tribal elders, MNA Khyber Iqbal Afridi, MPAs Sohail Afridi, and MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi, as well as the Commissioner of Peshawar and the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber. Kuki Khel elders expressed satisfaction with the agreement, hoping for swift action on the promises made.
The Kuki Khel Afridi tribe had been protesting close to the highway at the Bagyarri checkpost demanding the government compensation for damages caused by military operations and displaced people to return to their native Rajgal area of the Tirah Valley.
