JAMRUD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday visited Jamrud in Khyber district, where he inaugurated several development projects and addressed a workers’ convention at the Jamrud Sports Complex.
The chief minister was accompanied by MNA Iqbal Afridi, Provincial Minister Sahibzada Allama Muhammad Adnan Qadri, MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi and Haji Iqtidar Afridi.
During the visit, the chief minister inaugurated a number of public development initiatives, including a nursing college, the dual carriageway from Takhta Beg to Bara, the Jamrud Bazaar beautification project, the Khyber Water Supply Scheme, a solarisation scheme, and the launch of courses at a modern AI training centre in Jamrud. He also inaugurated a tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling.
Addressing party workers, Mr Afridi said the party was passing through a difficult period and claimed that despite approaching all relevant institutions to fulfil legal requirements, it had not received justice.
He said meeting the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, was a legal right that had been denied, adding that reconciliation without resistance was not possible.
The chief minister alleged that those responsible for imprisoning Imran Khan had also contributed to the deterioration of the country’s political and governance system. He maintained that lasting change could only come through the rule of law and the supremacy of justice rather than by replacing individuals in power.
Referring to the country’s political situation, Mr Afridi claimed that the existing system had been weakened by those who had remained influential over the past several decades. He reiterated that only Imran Khan could restore the country’s governance system.
Commenting on the security situation, the chief minister expressed concern over Balochistan and said previous policies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed. He praised the province’s youth, describing them as “Shaheens” inspired by the philosophy
