LANDIKOTAL: The District Khyber team secured first place in the shooting gala organized by the Pakistan Army at the Kohat Sports Complex on Sunday.
The event, held under the theme “Peace Prevailing Campaign,” aimed to promote peace and sportsmanship in the erstwhile Fata.
The victorious District Khyber shooting team included Ahmad Hussain Shinwari, Sartaj Khan, Shafiq Khan, Akhtar Akbar Shinwari, Bakhtullah Afridi, Riaz Afridi and Hazrat Ali Afridi. Upon their return, they were warmly received at Charwazgai Chowk in Landikotal, where many sports enthusiasts, residents and officials gathered to welcome them. The players were showered with rose petals in celebration of their remarkable achievement.
Speaking to Fata Voice News Agency Khyber shooting players Ahmad Hussain Shinwari and Sartaj Shinwari said that a total of 40 teams including teams from the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs), Pakistan Army, Elite Force, Police, and Frontier Regions (FRs) participated in the event.
Ahmad Hussain proudly stated that the Khyber team won first place overall, securing second place in the Small Machine Gun(SMG) category, third place in the Bolt Action event, and second place in Skeet Shooting.
He added that their victory was a historic moment for Khyber residents, as their team dominated all shooting categories in the competition for the first time.
Major General Zulfiqar Bhatti presented the team with a Turkish-made Kral A-12 Bore Gun and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 in recognition of their outstanding performance.
