LANDIKOTAL: A female Sub-divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Rizwana Shaheen, who was stabbed with a knife, was found dead at her official residence in Mirilkhel village in Landikotal of district Khyber, the police said on Saturday.
Station House Officer(SHO) Landikotal Ibrahim Khan Shinwari told this scribe that SDEO Rizwana Shaheen, a resident of Domal Bannu, had been transferred to Landikotal some two months ago from Swat. He said she was posted in Landikotal tehsil as an education officer and residing in a home allowed her in a state-run primary school.
SHO said she was multiple times stabbed with a knife inside the official residence. He said on the information watchman police reached the site and took the body into custody. They collected evidence and started an investigation. He said the accused had locked the home from outside after committing the crime and fled from the scene.
Police said Naijbullah, the husband of the slain Rizwana Shaheen and four of her children were also not present at the home where the incident took place.Police said when they reached to the incident site the home was locked from outside. He said Domal police on the information of Landikotal police arrested Najibullah and interrogation started from him. Police said during the initial interrogation Najib admitted that he killed his wife Rizwana Shaheen. However, they did not share further details of the murder.
Police said initial reports suggested that the husband and wife had differences over many domestic issues due to which she was killed.
Teachers associations including All Teachers Association Khyber(ATA) president Naseer Shah Afridi, Shareeful Afridi, press secretary Aminul Haq Afridi, civil society members and students condemned the brutal murder of a female officer. They demanded of the authorities thoroughly investigate the murder case and punishment the culprits.
