Police Killed In Takhtbai Terrorist Attack

PESHAWAR: A police constable was killed while two others were injured when terrorists attacked the police check post of Takhatbhai ruins in tehsil Takhatbhai, police said.

Takhtbai police said that on Thursday late night terrorists attacked with a gun firing on the Ruins police post. They said the gun firing was continued for some time which was retaliated by police at the check post.

Sepoy Umar Nabi died on the spot while head constable Shabir Ahamed and constable Fayaz sustained bullet injuries.

The attackers fled from the scene after the attack.

District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi other police officials and the bomb disposal unit rushed to the spot soon after the incident. The police cordoned off the area and started a search operation. It may be noted here that on 5th July terrorists had planted an explosive device near the Jalala Bridge at Takhtbhai that went off, killing three people and injuring seven others including two police constables.

On 12th July late night at 9:45 pm militants had also attacked the Shahidano Police Post located on the Rustam-Buner Road at 9:45 pm. A passerby died on the spot while two other people including a police constable were injured in the firing.

The increase in militancy-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa increased fear and panic among the masses.

It may be noted here that several bomb blast and suicide attack incidents had occurred in Mardan in which several police officers, cops and civilians were killed and injured during the militancy in the past.
Terrorists have reorganized in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in merged districts where they were targetting journalists, police and other citizens.
