TORKHAM: Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) arrested the former Punjab assembly member’s son who was fleeing to Afghanistan via Torkham border, officials said on Sunday.
Additional director FIA Torkham Yasar Arafat told this scribe that one Abdulbasit Chaudhari was barred from entering Afghanistan via the Torkham border. He said the arrested person’s name was on Exit Control List(ECL).
He said the arrested person was the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab former Punjab assembly member Amjad Chaudhari son from Rawalpindi.
Sources said the arrested person was allegedly involved in May 9, incidents and nominated in a number of FIRs in different police stations in Punjab. The arrested person was later shifted to jail from the Torkham border.
It may be added here that police have arrested a number of PTI local leaders and workers in Landikotal, Bara and Jamrud tehsils of district Khyber while the crackdown against PTI was in full swing in the past few weeks.
