TORKHAM: The death toll from the Torkham landsliding climbed to five when another dead body was recovered on Thursday.

Assistant Commissioner of Landikotal Irshad Ali Mohmand told Fata Voice News that heavy machinery continued pulling out trucks and dead bodies from the debris. He said another dead body and three injured people were pulled from the debris. He said a goat was also recovered alive from the landslide debris after three days by rescue workers. The moment was joyful when a goat with a broken leg was recovered from the debris. Rescue workers raised Allahu Akbar voices when the goat was rescued alive.

It may be mentioned here that Afghanistan has also provided heavy machinery for rescue operations.
Dozens of members of the Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, and local volunteers continued the rescue operation.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan said a fifty-per cent rescue operation had been completed. So far, twenty-four container trucks have been recovered from the debris. He said traffic flow had been restored via an alternate route in Torkham. He said they were collecting data on the affected so that they could compensate them. He said they fear more dead bodies under the heap of debris. He said a number of other containers loaded with export goods could be under the heap.
