LANDIKOTAL: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, on Monday visited District Khyber and inaugurated the first modern police facilitation centre established in any tribal district of the province.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by CCPO Peshawar, DPO Khyber and other senior police officers. The IGP inspected various sections of the centre, including the driving license desk, character certificate issuance unit, tenant and employee registration desks, public complaints cell, special counters for women and senior citizens, control room and the police driving school. He was briefed by officials about the available services and delivery process.

Speaking to the media after the inauguration, the IGP said that the establishment of a modern, organized and public-friendly facilitation centre in Khyber is a significant milestone, particularly given the limited resources. He said digitalization of services is essential and the tribal districts are now being brought at par with the settled districts in terms of police services.

Zulfiqar Hameed directed staff to ensure the timely delivery of services, maintain polite and professional behaviour and uphold the dignity of the police force. He said such facilities would help bridge the gap between the public and the police and restore trust in law enforcement institutions.

He also said that the sacrifices of police personnel for the protection of the motherland would never be forgotten. “Our martyrs are the pride of the force. Their services and sacrifices will always be remembered,” he said.

The IGP announced that similar police facilitation centres would soon be established in all other merged districts. He added that tribal police would be equipped with modern weapons and training to enhance their capacity and ensure better law enforcement across the region.
