Workshop on AI journalism arranged in district Khyber

LANDIKOTAL: The Youth Affairs department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arranged a one-day training workshop for Khyber district journalists on Monday.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Affairs Department, in collaboration with the district administration of Khyber, hosted the workshop. The workshop aimed to introduce journalists to contemporary journalistic standards, professional ethics, artificial intelligence and effective social media usage.

Youth affairs officer Sajid Afridi led a workshop on the importance of AI and ethical journalism. and consisted of three sessions.

Senior journalist Alisha Majeed Saeed, the head trainer, delivered an in-depth lecture on crafting press releases in line with modern standards, the principles of news writing, and journalistic ethics, along with practical training exercises.

During the second session, trainer Roohul Amin Haider informed participants about the increasing impact of modern technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in journalism. He explained how artificial intelligence could be utilized effectively in news production, research and enhancing content.

The third session by trainer Abdul Mushtaq Taimur emphasized responsible and effective social media use, strategies for countering fake news and the ethical responsibilities of journalists on digital platforms.

More than 30 Journalists from Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara press clubs attended the workshop and expressed their appreciation for the workshop, calling it timely and extremely beneficial. They acknowledged that journalism was rapidly transitioning to digital media and that social media had emerged as a significant tool for disseminating news. They deemed such training programs to be crucial for improving professional skills.

On this occasion, the presidents of the three press clubs, Aman Ali Shinwari, Zahir Shah Afridi and Saleem Afridi, thanked youth affairs officer Sajid Afridi and expressed hope that, alongside youth-focused training and tourism initiatives, similar professional development programs for journalists would continue in the future.

At the end of the workshop, Sajid Afridi presented appreciation shields to the trainers and certificates to participating journalists.
