Waziristan: Renowned War of Independence Hero’s Successor Assassinated

Mir Ali: The grandson of the Renowned War of Independence Hero Faqir Ipi, Haji Sher Muhammad was killed in Mir Ali of district North Waziristan by unidentified assailants on Tuesday, sources said

According to the sources, Haji Sher Muhammad was killed in front of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Mir Ali by unidentified assailants.
The firing incident also killed his colleague, Rahimullah, and two others, including Haji Sher Muhammad’s son, sustained injuries.
The wounded were immediately taken to Mir Ali Hospital for medical treatment, sources add.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Haji Sher Muhammad, the deceased, held significant lineage as the successor of Faqir of Ipi.

Haji Mirzali Khan Wazir, commonly known as Faqir Ipi, was the most determined and implacable adversary of the British Raj in India during the first half of the 20th century.
Born in 1897, Faqir Ipi belongs to a Madikhel Torikhel, a sub-tribe of a larger Utmanzai Wazir, to a religious family. He gave a tough time to the then superpower – Great Britain in Waziristan, part of the then Fata now merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He died a natural death in 1960 and was buried in Gurwek, North Waziristan.
