LANDIKOTAL: Like the other parts of the country, residents traders and political parties workers observed shutterdown strike in Landikotal on Saturday.
Jamat-e-Islam Landikotal chapter and traders union Landikotal bazaar led the protest rally. They were holding banners with the slogans ” We Want Peace and Control prices” on them. They also burnt tyres at Bacha Chowk in Landikotal bazaar and suspended all kinds of movement for hours.
Speakers including JI Ameer Muqtadar Shah Afridi, bazaar traders union president Jafar Khan Shinwari, Ilyas Shinwari, Raziq Shinwari and others said that caretaker and past governments were responsible for the current deteriorated law and order and fragile economic situation.
They said every citizen had lost the buying power to purchase commodities for their families.
JI Ameer Muqtadar Shah said both Zardar and Shareef families have looted public money and run away from the country.
He demanded that the government provide relief and bring down petroleum goods prices so that citizens could get food items at affordable prices. JI leader said the caretaker setup should not obey American dictation and serve Pakistan.
Meanwhile, more than seven thousand shops and offices in Landikotal bazaar remained closed on the call against price hikes and deteriorated law and order in district Khyber.
