MIRANSHAH: The sit-in at Miranshah in North Waziristan was staged by hundreds of tribesmen against the killing of a protester by the security forces in Datta Khel tehsil in North Waziristan tribal district.
According to sources, the security forces were conducting a search operation in the Khattai Kalay and Shna Khwara areas following a remote-controlled bomb blast in which a havaldar was martyred and three others were injured in the blast on Thursday.
The security forces had held some tribesmen for questioning and were about to take them to their camp when others came to the scene and opposed it.
Arguments broke out. In order to disperse the tribesmen, the security personnel fired gunshots in the air and one person was killed and ten others injured.
A sit-in was organized after the incident at Miranshah.
The protesters are demanding of the government to take action against those security forces who had opened fire at the peaceful protesters.
