KHYBER: At least eight Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured in a roadside bomb blast targeting a security forces convoy in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Saturday, officials said.
According to sources, the convoy was moving along the Pak-Afghan Highway when an explosion occurred near an FC vehicle in the Naugazi Baba area in Bara. The blast caused injuries to eight FC soldiers, identified as sepoys Azam Gul, Javed Iqbal, Muhammad Ghafoor, Muhammad Afzal, Abdul Qadeer, Misbahullah, Afsar Nawaz and Sardar Ali.
Police officials said the explosion was triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside.
The injured personnel were shifted to the Frontier Corps Hospital in Shakas, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Soon after the incident, police and security forces rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.
Khyber district has witnessed a surge in militant attacks in recent months, particularly targeting security forces and law enforcement agencies. Several IED blasts, firing incidents and drone-related attacks have been reported in Bara, Tirah valley and surrounding areas, reflecting a deteriorating security situation. Despite ongoing targeted operations, militants continue to carry out hit-and-run attacks, raising concerns over the safety of both security personnel and civilians in the region.
