Police seized 4kg Ice drug in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: In a major operation against drug traffickers, Landikotal police foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics on foot and recovered 4 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice) during a special checkpoint set up on the bypass road on Tuesday, police said.

Additional SHO Landikotal Azmat Wali Shinwari said that taking action on the tip off a police team led by assistant subinspector Bahar Gul was constituted and established a checking point on the Landikotal bypass road. He said during random checking, police successfully intercepted a suspicious individual. He said police recovered 4 kilograms of ice drug from the possession of a pedestrian. The drug peddler identified as Ibrahim, son of Malakand, a resident of Sheikhmalkhel, Sheri Khel, was arrested and sent to lock up for further investigation. Police said the arrested person was a proclaimed offender wanted in multiple cases by Landikotal police.

A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to trace other facilitators involved in the drug smuggling network.

District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber, Rai Mazhar Iqbal, lauded the police team for the successful operation and reaffirmed that strict action under a zero-tolerance policy against drugs will continue.

He added that Khyber police personnel were committed to maintaining peace and protecting the younger generation from the scourge of drugs.
