ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has raised alarm at the United Nations Security Council over the use of Afghan territory for militant activities, urging the Taliban to take immediate action.

Addressing the Council, Pakistan’s envoy Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said at least 80 Pakistanis had been killed in recent terrorist attacks allegedly planned from Afghan soil.

He called on the Afghan authorities to ensure that their territory is not used against Pakistan or any other country, stressing the need to honour counterterrorism commitments.

The envoy also expressed concern over Afghanistan’s humanitarian crisis and the continued violation of women’s rights, urging sustained international support for the Afghan people.
