Pakistan, Afghanistan Forces Exchange Fire Along Border

TOORKHAM: Security forces from Pakistan and Afghanistan exchanged fire along the border on [day], heightening tensions in several frontier areas, according to Pakistani security officials.

Officials said the exchange began after firing from the Afghan side, which they attributed to elements of the Afghan Taliban. Pakistani forces responded immediately, targeting positions across the border.

Security sources reported that multiple militant positions were hit during the response, including an Afghan check post in the Chitral Sector. They added that further actions were carried out in border regions of Bajaur, Khyber, and Mohmand districts.

Pakistani authorities said the situation remains under control and that forces are maintaining heightened alert along the frontier. They reiterated that Pakistan is committed to defending its borders and will respond to any cross-border aggression.
