BARA: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi said his government opposed military operations in the past, opposes them today, and will not be part of what he called a failed policy in the future.

During a visit to Tirah Valley to meet affected families, he said that despite 22 major and 14,000 small operations, there is no guarantee that peace will be established. He said demanding a change in a failed policy leads to accusations of supporting terrorism.

Afridi said what is happening to the people of Tirah is unacceptable and criticized decisions being taken behind closed doors despite repeated failures.

He said the protection and dignity of the affected people is his direct responsibility and warned that any negligence would be unacceptable. He directed departments to take emergency measures, ordered the establishment of additional NADRA centers to speed up registration, and said lasting peace can only be achieved through a consensus-based policy developed in consultation with all stakeholders.
