LANDIKOTAL: Landikotal police on Monday successfully seized 8 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and arrested four suspects during a major anti-drug operation, police said.
Additional Station House Officer Landikotal Azmat Wali Shinwari told this scribe that under the leadership of District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, operations against drug dealers and smugglers are being conducted without discrimination. He said along with SHO Adnan Afridi police carried out an operation near the railway tunnel bypass area in Landikotal where they apprehended four suspects and recovered 8 kilograms of ice. The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Sattar, Ziaur Rehman, Riaz, and Azizur Rehman and shifted to Landikotal police station for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, Melwad police recovered 32 kilograms of hashish from a motorcycle and launched a search for the fleeing suspects.
In another operation, under the supervision of SHO Melwad Naushad Khan, Additional SHOs Abid Khan and Haroon Khan set up a checkpoint in the Melwad Khwar area. They signalled a motorcyclist to stop, but the suspect attempted to flee. The police pursued and intercepted the motorcycle a short distance away, recovering 32 kilograms of hashish packed in bags. A search for the suspect who fled the scene is underway.
DPO Khyber Rai Mazhar Iqbal said the importance of eradicating drugs from society was their mission.
“Drugs are a menace that destroys communities. Khyber Police remain active in combating this issue and indiscriminate operations against drug-related elements will continue across the district until this menace is eliminated”, he said.
