LANDIKOTAL: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday visited Landikotal and offered condolences to the family of Captain Abbas Shaheed and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Mohsin Naqvi was accompanied by IG Frontier Corps(FC) Major General Rao Imran Sartaj, deputy commissioner Khyber Bilal Shaid Rao, and the commandant of Khyber Rifles Colonel Saeed.

During the visit, the Interior Minister met the martyr’s father and brothers, expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family and paid tribute to the sacrifice of Captain Abbas Ahinwari, who embraced martyrdom while performing operational duties in Khyber district.

Captain Abbas Shinwari was martyred during a recent engagement in the Tirah valley area, where security forces have been engaged in operations against militant elements attempting to destabilize the region. His martyrdom once again highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace in the tribal belt.
Khyber district, along with other merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has witnessed a renewed wave of militant activity in recent months, including targeted attacks, roadside explosions and assaults on security personnel.

Despite significant improvements in security over the past decade following major military operations, sporadic incidents of terrorism continue to threaten peace in these areas.
Masal Khan, a family member of the martyred captain, told Mohsin Naqvi that they feel proud that a Landikotal resident and a tribal sacrificed his life for the protection of the motherland. He said tribals were patriots and would render sacrifices for Pakistan.
Interior minister while talking to the martyred captain’s family, reaffirmed during the visit that security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism and ensuring lasting stability in Khyber and other merged districts, while honouring the sacrifices of personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
