LANDIKOTAL: Police at Michni checkpost seized narcotics and arrested six persons on the spot, police said on Saturday.
Michni post commander assistant sub-inspector Qamar Abbas Afridi and Ayaz Shinwari told this scribe that taking action on a tip-off, they established a blockade at the Michni checkpost near the Torkham border and stopped a car. Ayaz said during the search that they recovered five kilograms of Ice drugs concealed in the cloth-made blanket.
Qamar Abbas said within two hours of the first seizures they also recovered two kilograms of Ice drugs and 24 bottles of foreign-made alcohol from another car. He said the alcohol and Ice drugs were concealed in the hidden cavities of the car coming from the Torkham border.
The accused were arrested and a case was registered against them and transferred to Landikotal Havalat for further investigation.
Six persons identified as Khawar Hayat, resident of Attock Punjab, Sharif, afghan citizen, Shakeel Ahmed, resident of Peshawar Board Tajabad, Shakil Afridi, resident of Jamrud, Naushad Shinwari, resident of Landikotal, Pir Muhammad, resident of Afghanistan were arrested and shifted to jail.
Police said two cars included of Non-Custom paid Vitz car and a Corolla Xli bearing registration (LC-617)
Police said the seized narcotics were being smuggled to Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Islamabad where form according to the arrested persons were being further smuggled to foreign countries.
Police high-ups praised the police officials posted at the Michni check post for their successful actions in the past few months curbing the smuggling of contraband.
