DISTRICT KHYBER: Islamic Relief Pakistan distributed food vouchers in Landikotal on Monday.
Islamic Relief programme manager Sara Javed told Fata Voice that they have started a three-day food voucher programme in Landikotal and the upper Tirah valley for those who have recently returned to their homes.
She said the food voucher programme was implemented as a globally tested programme to address the needs of food insecurity and nutrition for the marginalised and most vulnerable communities.
Sara Javed said more than 400 families, mostly widows, were selected in the first phase to receive food vouchers. She said market assessments have also been carried out to check the daily usage of necessary food items and trends in the area. She said they also checked the availability of the necessary food items in the market.
Sara stated that each family would receive a Rs 9000 voucher for each visit. Adding that this was the first food voucher distribution by Islamic Relief Pakistan in district Khyber Those who received food vouchers appreciated the efforts of Islamic Relief Pakistan with a remark that this programme would ease their ongoing inflation.
