ISLAMABAD: The midterm skills competition was held at PC hotel Muzaffarabad AJ&K under the supervision of Hashoo Foundation and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission in association with the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program. Total of Forty students from professional cooking and hotel management (20 each) participated in the event that was graced by the officials of NAVTTC, PC hotel and Hashoo Foundation.
Mr. Naeem Iqbal, Director NAVTTC Islamabad was the chief guest on this occasion accompanied by Mr. Salman Saeed, the General Manager of PC Hotel Muzaffarabad while Mr. Azeem Khan, the Executive Chef, Abdul Manan, Assistant Director Food and Beverages and Mr. Abdur Rehman, HR Manager participated as jury members. The four groups of twenty students from professional cooking prepared delicious Pakistani and Continental cuisine while the trainees of hotel management took part in the quiz in order to gauge their capabilities in front desk management.
While addressing the trainees, the Director of NAVTTC appreciated the way trainees have learned professionalism in three months and hoped for more knowledge and commitment in the remaining period. He was very impressed by the discipline shown by the trainees in the kitchen, front desk and in the presentation of food items and communications. Mr. Naeem Iqbal thanked Hashoo Foundation for a remarkable initiative and assured full cooperation in future as well. He stressed the significance of hard work and dedication so that they could maximize the usefulness and practicality of the learnt skills and professionalism for a better tomorrow. He also praised the attractive atmosphere given to the trainees at the property and congratulated the winners of the competition.
Mr.Naeem Iqbal, Director NAVTTC and Mr. Salman Saeed, General Manager of PC hotel Muzaffarabad distributed cash prizes and gift hampers among the winners. Both dignitaries appreciated the hard work, dedication and commitment of the trainees. The trainees thanked the management of Hashoo Foundation and officials of NAVTTC for the provision of such a remarkable opportunity for professional learning.
Ms. Zarmina, Ms. Urooj, Ms. Irum, Mr. Mushtaq and Mr. Shafiq were declared winners in the professional cooking trade and Mr. Ali Raza. Mr. Akmal Manzoor and Mr. Ejaz were declared winners by the judges in the category of hotel management, the front desk. The purpose of the midterm skills competition was to measure the capabilities of the trainees and to monitor their progress so that the remaining part of the training could be reviewed and planned accordingly.
It is essential to mention that Hashoo Foundation has initiated a pilot Hotel Management Training Program in AJ&K that includes Professional Cooking and Hotel Management with the assistance of NAVTTC in association with TEVTA AJ&K and the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program.
