Bid to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan foiled at Torkham border

TORKHAM: Customs authorities at Torkham border foiled an attempt to smuggle banned arms and ammunition from Afghanistan, on Saturday, sources said

According to sources, a truck registration plate No Peshawar-8783 carrying coal entered the Torkham border point in Pakistan, from Afghanistan. During the customs examination, customs officials discovered 88 foreign guns and 600 bags of cartridges concealed in hidden cavities of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Abdul Qadar, a resident of Afghanistan, was arrested, and interrogation has started with him, sources added
