LANDIKOTAL: In yet another tragic incident highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber district, unidentified motorcyclists opened fire outside Jamrud hospital, killing Shadan,a resident of Sher Khankhel village in Jamrud, sources said on Tuesday.

The sources reported that the sudden attack sparked widespread panic in the area. Police and law enforcement agencies quickly reached the site, cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence. No arrests have been made so far.
According to eyewitnesses, motorcyclists opened fire on the young man when he was coming out of the hospital and fled the scene.

According to sources, this is the second major assault on Shadan’s family. Just two weeks ago, his brother Khuban and father Attaullah were injured in a similar firing incident by unknown assailants.

Khuban is still under treatment in the hospital, while Attaullah sustained minor injuries. It is worth noting that a few days earlier, an Afghan national was killed and another person wounded in a separate shooting in the same area. In that case, an FIR was lodged against Shadan’s father, Attaullah and brother Khuban, raising serious questions about possible motives and escalating local tensions.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of growing target killings in Khyber district, especially in the Jamrud subdivision. The region, once known for its historical trade routes and tribal resilience, is now gripped by fear due to the increasing frequency of targeted attacks.

Unidentified gunmen, often on motorcycles, carry out killings and disappear without a trace. Journalists, tribal elders, and common citizens have all been victims, and in most cases, justice remains elusive. Local elders and civil society members have strongly condemned the violence and urged the government to take immediate and effective action. They demand strengthened law enforcement, improved intelligence and prompt investigations to break the cycle of violence and restore peace in the region.
Police said that the motive behind the killing of the youth was believed to be enmity.
