LANDIKOTAL: A body of a resident was recovered from the foothills of Sheikhwal in Landikotal, Khyber district, on Monday, police said.
They said that on the information, police and Rescue 1122 teams rushed to that spot and shifted the body to Landikotal hospital for post-mortem. The slain was identified as Gul Shad, son of Zaragir and a resident of Khasrogi Zakhakhel, who was shot dead and had his body in Shiekhwal village in Landikotal.
The incident underscores growing security concerns in Landikotal, which has witnessed several militant-related incidents in recent months. Police said that the slain had a small shop in his village.
It may be added here that in the past few months, militants attacked a check post in Landikotal, killing two police officers and a civilian. More recently, a nighttime assault on a security and police post in Ziarai caused structural damage, though no casualties were reported. Security forces have also conducted operations in the area, seizing weapons and militant stockpiles.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to prevent further deterioration of security in the district.
