KHAR: District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, has taken decisive administrative action by bringing 110 so-called “ghost employees” of the Bajaur Police back into active service.

Officials said the personnel had been drawing salaries despite prolonged absence from duty, a practice that had negatively impacted discipline, morale among junior officers, and overall security management. Following public complaints and repeated representations from serving staff, the District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, initiated a verification drive, suspending salaries of absentee personnel and directing them to report for duty.

Police officials believe the measure has improved transparency within the department and will help address manpower shortages at checkpoints, contributing to better law and order in the district.
