Jamrud, Bara Press Clubs Elect Office-Bearers for 2026

KHYBER: Journalists in Jamrud and Bara elected their respective office-bearers for the year 2026, with elections held peacefully and constitutionally.

At the Jamrud Press Club (JPC), Zahir Shah Afridi was elected president. Shehzad Afridi secured the position of general secretary, while Shafaat Afridi was elected finance secretary.

Other office-bearers elected unopposed include Amirzada as vice president, Muhammad Arif Afridi as senior vice president, Ali Akbar Afridi as joint secretary, and Karamat as press secretary.

The elections were conducted under the supervision of the Election Committee headed by Chairman Awal Sher Afridi, with Muhammad Akbar Afridi as secretary, and committee members Lal Zameer Afridi, Ali Muhammad, and Izzat Gul. The polling process concluded peacefully in line with the club’s constitutional requirements.

Meanwhile, the election for the presidency at the Bara Press Club (BPC) ended in a tie. Following consultations, the election committee nominated Muhammad Salim to serve as president for the first six months of 2026, while Kamaran Afridi will assume the role for the remaining six months of the year.

Journalists welcomed the completion of the electoral process. They expressed hope that the newly elected leadership would work for press freedom, professional development, and the welfare of journalists in the region.
