Police Seized Millions of Rupees Worth of Narcotics in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: police have seized narcotics worth millions of rupees in a major crackdown against drug smugglers in Landikotal and arrested two suspects at Charwazai police checkpost on Sunday, police said.

Police officer Turab Khan Shinwari informed this scribe that, following the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal as part of an ongoing district-wide campaign against drug dealers and smugglers, they had tightened the search of vehicles at various checkpoints.

He said that during a special checkpoint, police official Bahar Gul stopped a vehicle(3483-MNT) and searched all its compartments. He said police recovered eight kilograms of ice(crystal meth) and five kilograms of heroin hidden in the secret compartments of the vehicles. The seized drugs have an estimated value of millions of rupees in the market.

The suspects were identified as Waqas Afridi, son of Lal Muhammad and Ajmal Khan, son of Lal Muhammad, both residents of Shaks Jamrud, were arrested. They were taken into custody on the spot and shifted to the local lockup. A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

DPO Rai Mazhar Iqbal said the police would continue their uncompromising action against drug dealers and smugglers across the district without discrimination.

He described such criminals as “dangerous elements who are hollowing out the roots of society,” adding that they would be pursued on every front, regardless of their influence, until the last dealer is behind bars.
