Death toll rises to 7 in Wana Bazaar bombing; key Aman Committee leaders among injured

WANA: The death toll from Monday’s bombing at the Aman Committee office in Wana Bazaar, South Waziristan Lower, has risen to seven, with over 16 others injured, officials said.

The explosion occurred during a jirga at the office of Commander Saif-ur-Rehman, head of the Aman Committee. Commander Saif-ur-Rehman and Commander Tehsil, head of the Shakai Tehsil Aman Committee, were among the injured.

Rescue teams, assisted by residents and security forces, shifted the wounded to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana after providing initial aid.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
